On Sunday, March 22, 24 Frames will be hosting a screening The 78 Project Movie and Q&A with Alex Steyermark (director/editor/producer) and Lavinia Jones Wright (writer/producer). The 78 Project Movie is a documentary about the two as they travel across the country recording Americana and folk music.

Inspired by Alan Lomax, one of America’s greatest field recording collectors of the 20th century, the two have trekked across the country recording the likes of Patterson Hood, John Doe, The Secret Sisters, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Justin Townes Earle, Loudon Wainwright III, Rosanne Cash, Richard Thompson, Valerie June, and many others in a fashion true to Lomax and old field recording traditions. Armed with one microphone, one authentic ’30s Presto direct-to-acetate disk recorder, one blank lacquer disc, and one take, they’ve been able to capture these intimate takes to record.
