Editor’s Note: We’re trying this again. Getting 30 artists to answer the same question. For the month of September–one for each day–we’ll be getting 30 Lubbock-West Texas singer-songwriters to answer the following question. For the complete list of September answers, click here.
Is there a song that you’ve written that you find yourself singing with your eyes closed more often than not when performed live? Why?
“For me, the ‘eyes closed’ song will probably always be “Feeling Fine.” We usually either always start a show or end with it. I know it’s not deep or overly artistic, but I close my eyes to this one to take myself home to my wife. The things I talk about in the song; getting paid at the end of the night, being tired from work, etc. are all very real parts of our lives as a family. Yet, no matter where I might be playing that night, knowing that I have a beautiful wife and daughter to come home to keeps me going night after night and makes me want to keep writing.”
