Shinyribs played The Blue Light on February 27. What a performance. It’s really mesmerizing what Kevin Russell and company can create without the prototypical band set up. Namely, without major use of a lead guitar player. Rather, the use of the keyboard helps fill out the sound. And it certainly doesn’t hurt when you have an additional horn section for that night’s song selection. Apparently, Shinyribs’ third album, Okra Candy, will feature more horns than its predecessors.
Here’s a handful of highlights from that night. You can view our entire catalog of photographs from the night on our official Flickr page here. All photos by Landan Luna/New Slang. In addition, read our previous interview with Russell here.
