Viva Big Bend has announced their first wave of artists who will be playing this year’s festival early last month. As they promised then, another 20 or so artists have been added to the music festival that’ll take place later this summer in the small West Texas towns of Alpine, Marfa, and Marathon.
Butch Hancock and Bob Livingston join other Lubbockites Joe Ely, Colin Gilmore, and Lloyd Maines (playing with Terri Hendrix).
Other new additions include: Bubba Hernandez, Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker, Folk Family Revival, Freddie Steady KRC and Emily Grace Bell, Grace London, Horse Opera, Mike Stinson, Parker Millsap, Shakey Graves, The Bluebonnets, The Derailers, Ahskey Monical, Border Blues, Crhista Russell, Grupo Alegra, Phillip Q. Morrow, and Rick Ruiz and a Few Too Many.
Last month’s lineup announcement included:Anthony Ray Wright, Craig Kinsey Band, Crooks, Doodlin’ Hogwallops, Doug Moreland, El Tule, Emily Bell, Graham Wilkinson, John Evans Band, Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights, Matt Skinner, Mike & The Moonpies, Nakia, Patrice Pike, Primo Carrasco & David Beebe, Quiet Company, Randy Rogers Band, Soul Track Mind, Terri Hendrix with Lloyd Maines, Tessy Lou & The Shotgun Stars, Texas Tornados, Texas Tycoons, The O’s, Whiskey Shivers, and Wild Child.
Currently, the music festival will be showcased at a number of venues in Alpine, Marfa, and Marathon including: Railroad Blues (Alpine), Granada Theatre (Alpine), Reata Restaurant (Alpine), Padre’s (Marfa), Planet Marfa (Marfa), Holland Hotel (Alpine), Lost Horse (Marfa), and the aforementioned Gage Hotel (Marathon).
