Viva Big Bend has announced their first wave of artists who will be playing this year’s festival in three of Texas’ favorite West Texas small towns in late summer (July 25-28). After being spread out over Alpine and Marfa last year, they’ve added another small town gem in Marathon–primarily at the famous Gage Hotel.
Viva Big Bend, being produced by Texas Music Magazine, has recently announced 27 bands/acts who will be performing at this year’s festival and music-industry conference. Like last year’s festival, there’s a handful of artists and bands with Lubbock ties. This year, they’re lead by Joe Ely, Colin Gilmore, and Lloyd Maines (playing with Terri Hendrix).
Other artists include: Anthony Ray Wright, Craig Kinsey Band, Crooks, Doodlin’ Hogwallops, Doug Moreland, El Tule, Emily Bell, Graham Wilkinson, John Evans Band, Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights, Matt Skinner, Mike & The Moonpies, Nakia, Patrice Pike, Primo Carrasco & David Beebe, Quiet Company, Randy Rogers Band, Soul Track Mind, Terri Hendrix with Lloyd Maines, Tessy Lou & The Shotgun Stars, Texas Tornados, Texas Tycoons, The O’s, Whiskey Shivers, and Wild Child.
Currently, the music festival will be showcased at a number of venues in Alpine, Marfa, and Marathon including: Railroad Blues (Alpine), Granada Theatre (Alpine), Reata Restaurant (Alpine), Padre’s (Marfa), Planet Marfa (Marfa), Holland Hotel (Alpine), Lost Horse (Marfa), and the aforementioned Gage Hotel (Marathon).
There will be another string of lineup announcements in the near future. Tickets are currently available for $50 and available here. For more information on Viva Big Bend, check out their official website here.
