News: Lubbock Music Festival

Some months ago, it was announced that the Lubbock Music Festival be would “rebooted” after three years without the event. Today, a near complete schedule for the Thursday, September 27-29th event was announced with a number of local bands such as Red & the Vityls, Thrift Store Cowboys, Brandon Adams & the Sad Bastards, Joe Ely, and The Flatlanders as well as a handful of other artists such as Bob Schneider, Emory Quinn, Rodney Parker & the 50 Peso Reward, Grouplove, Shiny Toy Guns, Damn Quails, Cody Canada & the Departed, America, and El Tule.

The music festival, which is going with a South By Southwest feel with a number of notable Depot District venues involved along with a few featured stages. The festival will be kicked off on Thursday afternoon with the West Texas Walk of Fame induction of former Cricket drummer J.I. Allison. In addition, the Allison House Celebration will be taking place at The Buddy Holly Center directly after the ceremony. Thursday also includes a free Cactus Theater show featuring former Cricket band members.
